Acting
Welcome to Build-A-Reel presented by Agency 89!
This is the first step towards becoming a working actor! We will spend 12 weeks fine- tuning your acting skills in order to compete as an actor in Hollywood. We film everything you do, from monologues to camera movements on a studio stage. It is then pieced together into an acting reel and resume.
Topics of Study:
- Movement: physical conditioning, principles and techniques that allow the actor to convey a character's emotions, and objectives.
- Scene Study/Script Analysis: interpret scripts and scenes through emotional transitions, then controlling those transitions through specific actions and techniques.
- Voice: the heart of acting and typically includes practice in singing, breathing, relaxing, and phrasing. The actor can master the voice according to volume, articulation, inflection, dialects and emotional expression.
- Comedy and Improvisation: interpreting comedic roles, and how to perform spontaneously, with or without a script.
- Monologues: how to perform monologues, a dramatic piece expressed by one actor.
- Film vs. Stage: an analysis of how stage acting is different from film acting, the styles and techniques associated with each. Includes familiarization and instruction with professional stage and film (both single and multi-camera) sets.
